Grammar vs. Syntax
Most people, but not all teachers, use “grammar” to refer to not just word order and word form, but punctuation as well.

This leads to the problem of confusing prescriptive grammar and descriptive grammar, which is truly syntax. There is more on prescriptive grammar in the Style Section.
